CAR
A Technological Uterus

Modern man requires simpler maps to make the complex and fast-paced world more intelligible amidst many combinations. In line with this, there is an increasing need to categorize all objects and concepts of life; this categorization inherently brings about a coding process. The car, as one of the key metaphors through which changes in the modern process can be most clearly observed and recorded, contains a series of codes that allow these cultural structures to be followed in a dramatic way. Once these codes and maps are formed, they become externalized and begin to influence human behaviors, perceptions, and value judgments. Throughout the conference, the car will be considered an independent object or entity to reflect on its design values and evaluate its power and influence within the context of cultural codes.

While cultural codes create social categorizations, the elements within each category carry explanations framed by specific qualities. Cars, in this context, with their symbolic, aesthetic, and semiotic values, serve as more comprehensible representations or expressions of these complex abstract structures adapted to human life. In this respect, during the conference, the car will be evaluated as a form of social consciousness and memory, in line with the new dimensions it brings to modern life. It will also be discussed as a social program that shapes intercultural interaction and attitudes.

As both an object and an interface, the car—with its ability to envelop the human body almost like a garment—plays a significant role in the collective meanings that define the societal paradigm of today. As a cultural code, it generates both practical consciousness and discursive memory. Throughout the discussions, we will analyze how the car's various meanings can serve as a source of either integration or conflict in interactions between different groups, aligning with cultural codes and exploring the common denominators between car design and other creative disciplines.

A Theme for the Visible State of Movement
Speed-Sensitive Activity to Stimulate the Senses

Process
The workshop will be conducted as a design process in which participants explore different sensory dimensions through basic concepts such as movement and motion. These concepts will be embodied and abstracted to create visual connections that can be evaluated across variable and associative dimensions.

Drawing exercises, forming one cornerstone of the study, will serve as a transformative process, representing the physical manifestation of ideas. These exercises aim to foster communication and act as an expressive technique for participants. Throughout the study, drawing techniques will be developed and refined through geometric expressions on paper, while also providing a series of creative experiences in the search for form and surface in car design.

In parallel, the parameters of micro and macro mobility will be explored through the lens of car design, encouraging participants to reflect on future urban paradigms and the growing role of cars within these scenarios. From this perspective, the workshop aims to deliver professional insights into car architecture, ergonomic principles, and aerodynamic parameters. Simultaneously, it will examine the interplay between human behavior and the information technologies of the car industry, situating these within the context of specialized design orientations.

Process
The workshop will be conducted as a design process that explores different sensory perspectives on concepts such as movement, motion, and transformation. These explorations will be aligned with spatial connections across variable, adaptive, and associative dimensions. The study aims to examine motion, speed, and form-sensitive dynamism as they relate to the phenomenon of space within the context of memory or journey.

This process can also be understood as a spatial prediction shaped by associative data based on vital codes and intellectual maps related to movement. The workshop further aims to explore the dynamic nature of space within the discipline of architecture, focusing on transitions such as those from physical to virtual structures, from linear to paradoxical planes, and from digital to tangible environments.

REQUIREMENTS

Product Design and Architecture* Students
Before the meetings, participants are asked to create freehand drawings of forms, surfaces, and structures inspired by shape, form, and abstract aesthetics, focusing on movement, speed, and dynamism. In the next step, these drawings are expected to evolve into 2D draft sketches, reduced to the shape of a car or a space,* following a guided developmental process. This transformation should be clearly articulated on paper, demonstrating sensitivity to the volume, form, and surface of the car or space* being conceptualized.

The participants’ works will be evaluated based on their intellectual capacity, ability to synthesize and transform information, and adherence to professional norms, which, although they are still students, are considered essential. The goal is for the process to stretch their intellectual perspectives and foster positive development in their professional sensibilities. Throughout the workshop, meetings will alternate between theoretical discussions and practical applications.

OTOMOBİL
Teknolojik Bir Uterus

Modern insan birçok kombinasyonu olan ilişkiler içinde bu karmaşık ve süratli dünyayı anlaşılır kılacak daha basit haritalara ihtiyaç duyar. Bu ihtiyaç doğrultusunda yaşama dair tüm nesnelere ve kavramlara karşı gittikçe artan bir kategorileştirme ihtiyacı içindedir; bu kategorileştirme bir kodlama sürecini de beraberinde getirir. Modern sürece dair değişimin en belirgin biçimde izlenebildiği ve kaydedilebildiği nesnelerden biri olan otomobil oluşturulagelen bu kültürel yapıların çarpıcı bir biçimde takip edilebilmesine olanak sağlayan bir dizi kod barındırır. Oluşturulan bu kodlar ve bu kodların takip edildiği haritalar bir kez oluştuktan sonra dışsallaşır ve insanların davranışları, algıları ve değer yargıları üzerinde etkili olur. Otomobil temel bir referans olarak söyleşi boyunca sahip olduğu tasarım değerleri bağlamında bu konu üzerinde düşünebilmek adına bağımsız bir nesne, yada varlık, olarak ele alınacak ve sahip olduğu kültürel kodlar bağlamında sahip olduğu belirli bir etki gücü ve nüfuz alanı uyarınca değerlendirilecektir.

Kültürel kod sosyal bir kategorileştirme oluştururken bir taraftan da her bir kategoriye yerleştirilen öğeler belirli nitelikler çerçevesinde bir tür açıklama içerirler; otomobiller kendilerine özgü sembolik, estetik ve simgesel değerleriyle bu çok daha karmaşık olan soyut yapının insan yaşamına uyarlanmış daha anlaşılır resimleri, yada fadeleri gibidir. Bu açıdan söyleşi süresince otomobil, modern hayata dair anlamlar ve eylemler arasındaki ilişkiye getirdiği yeni boyutlar doğrultusunda bir toplum bilinci ve belleği oluşturuyormuşçasına değerlendirilerek kültürler arası etkileşimi ve tutumları yönlendiren bir sosyal program olarak ele alınacaktır.

Bir nesne ve bir ara yüz olarak otomobil neredeyse bir kıyafet gibi insan bedenini sarma yetisiyle bugün bir toplumun ve bir ulusun paradigmasını oluşturan ortak anlamlar bütününün önemli bir parçası konumundadır; ve bir kültürel kod olarak hem pratik bir bilinç hem de söylemci bir bellek oluşturur. Söyleşi boyunca otomobilin sahip olduğu tüm bu özelliklerin kültürel kodlar uyarınca nasıl bir tasarım stratejisi ile farklı gruplar arasındaki etkileşimlerde bütünleşmenin yada çatışmanın kaynağı olabildiği düşünülmeye çalışılacak, ve bunun yanında diğer yaratıcı disiplinler ve otomobil tasarımı arasındaki ortak payda ve izdüşümler değerlendirilecektir.

Süreç
Workshop değişken ve çağrışımsal boyutta değerlendirilebilecek görsel bağlantılar ve çözümlemeler adına hareket ve devinim, ve cisimleştirmek ve soyutlaştırmak gibi temel kavramlar üzerine farklı duyusal eşiklerin deneyimlendiği bir otomobil tasarım süreci olarak işlenecektir.

Çalışmanın temel taşlarından birini oluşturan çizim alıştırmaları katılımcılar adına tasarıma yönelik düşüncelerin bir iletişim dili, ve ayni zamanda bir ifade tekniği, oluşturabilmek üzere fiziksel anlamda dönüşümünü temsil eden bir transfer süreci olarak deneyimlenecektir. Çalışma boyunca çizim sürecine dair teknikler, gerek kağıt üzerindeki geometrik ifadeler gerekse dijital ve somut 3 boyutlu çalışma modelleri ile kurgulanıp biçimlendirilerek otomobil tasarımına ilişkin form arayışları ve yüzey davranışları konularında bir seri yaratıcı deneyim olarak aktarılacaktır.

Paralel olarak, micro ve macro mobiliteye ilişkin parametreler otomobiller üzerinden değerlendirilerek katılımcıların gelecekteki şehir kurgusu ve otomobillerin bu kurgu içinde giderek artan önemi üzerinde düşünmelerine olanak sağlanacaktır. Bu perspektif içinde çalışma otomobil mimarisi, ergonomi prensipleri, aerodinamik parametreler ile ilgili bir dizi mesleki bilgiyi aktarmayı amaçlarken bir taraftan da otomobil endüstrisi adına bilgi teknolojilerinin ulaştıkları yeni boyutun insan davranışları ile kurdukları bağlantıları bir takım özelleşmiş tasarım yönelimleri bağlamında inceleyecektir.

Hız bizi biçimimizi bozduğu ölçüde şekillendirir

Süreç
Workshop değişken, uyarlanabilir ve çağrışımsal boyutta değerlendirilebilecek olan mekansal bağlantılar ve çözümlemeler uyarınca hareket, devinim ve dönüşüm gibi kavramlar üzerine farklı duyusal eşiklerin deneyimlendiği bir mekan tasarımı süreci olarak yürütülecektir. Çalışma bir bellek ve yolculuk örüntüsü içinde mekan olgusuna ilişkin dinamiklerin harekete, hıza ve forma duyarlı kapasitelerini araştırmayı amaçlar.

Bu süreç harekete ilişkin yaşamsal kodların ve düşünsel izleklerin oluşturduğu çağrışımsal doneler etrafında şekillendirilen mekansal bir öngörü olarak da değerlendirilebilir. Workshop aynı zamanda mekanın harekete dair boyutunu fiziksel olandan varsayılan ve görünümsel olana geçiş, uzamsal ve paradoksal yapı, sanal ağlar ve örüntüler ve dijital ve mobil çevre gibi normlar uyarınca mimarlık disiplini içinde deneyimlemeyi amaçlar.

GEREKLİLİKLER

Ürün Tasarımı / Mimarlık* Öğrencleri
Katılımcılardan buluşma öncesi hareket, hız ve dinamizm kapsamında şekil, biçim ve soyut estetiğe dair serbest teknikle hazırlanmış form, yüzey ve strüktür araştırmaları yapmaları istenir. Bir sonraki adımda bu çalışmaların oluşturulan kurgu uyarınca belirli bir gelişim sürecini takip ederek bir otomobil, yada bir mekan* tasarımına indirgenmiş 2 boyutlu taslak çizimlere evrilmesi, bu dönüşüm kağıda aktarılması beklenir. Yapılacak bu çalışmanın oluşturulan otomobil, yada mekan* adına hacim, form ve yüzey davranışlarına dair belirli bir duyarlılığı ifade edebiliyor olması gerekir.

Katılımcıların workshop süresince üretecekleri işler entellektüel kapasite, bilgiyi dönüştürebilme becerisi ve henüz öğrenci olmalarına rağmen gündemde olması beklenen mesleki normlar adına değerlendirilecek. Ortaya çıkarılacak işlerin öğrencilerin düşünsel perspektiflerinde bir esneme ve mesleki duyarlılıklara dair olumlu bir gelişme yaratması beklenir. Çalışma boyunca buluşmalar teori ve uygulama düzeninde işlenir.
