STATEMENT

With an academic background in architecture, design, and urbanism, I contribute to the interdisciplinary academic environment. I support the ongoing development of the new curriculum in research, teaching, and practice, while offering a deeper understanding of the pressing contemporary issues in spatial theory and practice.

Having completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture, a master’s in car and transportation design, and most recently a master’s in urbanism at the University of Basel, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of research and teaching across diverse contexts—bridging the built environment with socio- spatial dynamics. I work in an interdisciplinary manner, connecting various fields.

Throughout my career, I have engaged in workshops, courses, and projects that examine the dynamic relationships between architecture, infrastructure, and mobility in post-industrial landscapes. These experiences have shaped my ability to synthesize theoretical insights with practical applications.

I have contributed to research projects focusing on human-machine interactions in urban contexts, particularly through the lens of mobile architecture. These experiences have strengthened my familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including spatial analysis and ethnographic inquiry. Notably, my urban ethnography master’s thesis on transnationality in Basel reflects a commitment to investigating complex social dimensions—perspectives that I believe are increasingly relevant to the built environment.

I emphasize inclusive, forward-thinking, and collaborative development in spatial education, with competency development and experimental teaching formats. My ongoing exploration of regenerative design principles, “more-than-human” landscapes, and adaptive infrastructures continues to shape my understanding of what urban learning can become.

For me, academia is, above all, an open forum where techniques, creativity, and ethics are reflected upon, and where social challenges are critically analyzed. It also encompasses a holistic understanding of climate change and sustainability—fostering awareness and active engagement with these issues.

The studio environment plays a central role in helping students find their own voice, nurturing creativity, and prioritizing independent thinking. Architectural, urban, and design education, in my view, is about conveying ideas, methods, and philosophies—and enabling students to see the world in new ways. Learning should be nonlinear, encouraging serendipitous connections and exploring visual, sensory, and aural dimensions. Students should be empowered to challenge existing methods and hierarchies with creative curiosity. My teaching philosophy is rooted in freedom of interpretation, emphasizing empirical experience through the five senses.

My professional experience includes collaborative research and teaching roles in which I facilitated dialogue across disciplines, often navigating the intersections of architectural theory, urban history, and design practice. I will continue to contribute to the research and pedagogical landscape at universities, not only through analytical support but also by engaging critically with the ongoing transformation of academia.
